True religion may be defined as the progressive experience of finding and knowing God, with the goal to become Godlike. This experience starts on Earth and continues through the multilevel universe to eternity.
Our efforts to hear each other, heal the earth, and procure world peace are destined to fall short if each generation does not discover new and higher spiritual meanings in their concept of God and understanding of their relation to God and the universe.
An evolving philosophy that is strengthened and guided by the superhuman insights of epochal revelation can reconcile both science and religion to synchronize fact and truth. Such an enlightened philosophy provides an intelligent explanation of the nature and content of religious experience that can serve as a springboard for the further transformation of humanity and our religious institutions.
Reason and faith are two essential factors in the development of both individual consciousness and world peace – two sides of the same coin that can be harmoniously linked to arrive at a Bigger Picture of Existence.
An enlarged and inspiring worldview can only be attained if individuals are willing to expand their concept of God and their understanding of humanity’s relationship to God and the universe.
Spirituality is the progressive revelation of the qualities of divinity in everything we think, say, and do. A growing spirituality is reflected when we consistently treat others as we would like to be treated in the same circumstances, and ultimately when our decisions and actions reflect the selfless attitude of a wise and loving parent. This spirituality is the goal of the ongoing process of spiritual growth on Earth.
From a cosmic perspective, every experience has the potential to be spiritual—to be influenced by spirit. But the spiritual power in an experience remains latent until it is activated by the response of the individual. In other words, a particular experience is not spiritual because it is perceived as such; it is spiritual because the subsequent decisions and actions reflect an expanding worldview and increasing sensitivity to spiritual guidance.
True personal spiritual development is reflected in society and among nations as peaceful coexistence. Peace will reign as individuals of all faiths live the religion of the spirit guided by a coherent framework that is informed by revelation.
When we commit to the harmonious development of the three endowments of the human mind (cosmic insight, moral awareness, and spiritual perception), we gradually come to the realization that the purpose of developing human consciousness is not to become enlightened or survive physical death; those are fringe benefits. The true purpose of developing human consciousness is to be fully empowered to contribute one’s best to the advancement of civilization. This is the responsibility, challenge, and privilege of every generation.

Live loyally today--grow--and tomorrow will attend to itself. The quickest way for a tadpole to become a frog is to live loyally each moment as a tadpole. [The Urantia Book, p. 1094. 6]
